May You Have Peace

Do you need peace today? I know I do!

My life verse is Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing…but the peace of God will guard your heart and minds.” Another translation says it this way:

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” NLT

So, I woke up early this morning thanks to my friendly insulin pump telling me to get some sugar! But, I couldn’t fall back to sleep. My mind began to race. These past two weeks have been a whirlwind and I’ve relied heavily upon God for His unfailing peace and presence. But, as today drew near, I found myself withdrawing. I knew the only thing to do was to draw near to God and read His words back to me. I’ll just give you the highlights of my readings all from NLT:

“For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, ‘May you have peace.'” Psalm 122:8

“Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 124:8

“O Israel, put your hope in the Lord – now and always.” Psalm 131:3

“As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength.” Psalm 138:3

“The Lord will work out his plans for my life – for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.” Psalm 138:8

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” Psalm 139:23-24

God never ceases to amaze me by His unfailing love for me. He has unfailing love for you, too!

What are you struggling with today that is overwhelming you? Take it to God so you may have peace. What area of your life needs help? God can help you…He made both heaven and earth. In whom or in what do you put your hope? Put your hope in the Lord both now and always. Looking to others for encouragement? God will encourage you by giving you the strength you need. Confused about life and the circumstances you are facing? The Lord will work it out and won’t abandon you.

Allow God to search your heart today and point out anything that offends Him. He already knows your anxious thoughts. He desires to lead you along the path of everlasting life. He desires good for our lives. Good may not look like “good” at the moment; nevertheless, we are to continually point others to Him with our praise and love for God.
